On a sunny Sunday, June 7, Kaitlyn Mullin and her boyfriend, Austin Ropp, were enjoying a peaceful hike near their home in Elmira, Ontario, Canada. Kaitlyn recalls, “We were walking down the trail when he came toward us. “The vet told us that he probably wouldn’t have survived much longer if we hadn’t found him,” Kaitlyn said. The couple knew they had to act fast and they did, ensuring the kitten received the care he desperately needed.
A Forever Home for Uno
Moved by his resilience and charm, Kaitlyn and Austin decided to adopt the little one-eyed kitten. They named him Uno, and it wasn’t long before he settled into his new life. “We are both big animal lovers, so giving Uno a home felt like the right choice,” Kaitlyn explains. “He’s incredibly sweet and playful, and he fit right in with our family.”
Despite his eye condition, Uno adapted remarkably well. Kaitlyn notes, “He likely never had vision in his left eye since he was so young, but he has adjusted beautifully. He’s full of personality and truly a little pirate of the house.”

Four months after his rescue, Uno is thriving. He enjoys leash walks with Kaitlyn and Austin and even accompanies them to work, where he’s become an office favorite. “Everyone loves him at work,” Kaitlyn shares. “He’s our little office mascot and brings so much joy to everyone around him.”
