Deaf Senior Cat Cries With Joy After Reuniting With Her Family Two Years Later

Imagine losing a pet you’ve loved for over two decades and then finding them again nearly two years later. That’s exactly what happened to Dean and Alison Lyng when their 25-year-old cat, Kizzy, returned to their lives in a way they never expected.

When Kizzy disappeared, Dean and Alison were devastated. They searched tirelessly knocking on doors, posting flyers, and calling every nearby animal shelter. As months went by with no word, hope slowly turned into heartbreak.

Found in the Shadows: A Rescue That Changed Everything

Nearly two years later, animal rescuer Natasha McPhee found a frail, elderly cat near a gutter. She was thin, covered in fleas, and completely deaf. Natasha took the cat who she named Moose to a local shelter, where the staff provided food, treatment, and a warm place to recover. Despite her condition, the cat’s spirit remained strong, with a healthy appetite and a surprising resilience.

Natasha had a feeling that Moose might be someone’s lost pet. So she shared her photo on Facebook, hoping it might spark recognition.

A Familiar Face on Facebook

Alison Lyng was scrolling through Facebook when she suddenly stopped she recognized the cat instantly. It was Kizzy. She couldn’t believe her eyes. The facial features, the fur, the expression it was her long-lost companion.

She immediately contacted Natasha, and the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. Kizzy, now known as Moose, had been found after all this time.

An Emotional Reunion Brings Everyone to Tears

After some medical care and rest, Kizzy was ready to go home. The reunion was nothing short of heartwarming. Dean scooped her up, and although Kizzy couldn’t hear his voice, she caught his scent. That’s when she began to cry overwhelmed with the comfort of familiarity.

Alison later shared the emotional moment online, writing:
“It took Kizzy a while to pick up on Dean’s scent as she is totally deaf now. But when she did, she cried.”

Home at Last Surrounded by Love

Back in her familiar home, Kizzy is once again surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. At 25 years old, she’s one of the oldest living cats around, and now she gets to live out her golden years where she belongs.

Kizzy’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of love, patience, and the bond between humans and their pets. Despite the odds, this resilient feline found her way back proving that miracles really do happen.

Here’s to many more cuddles, naps, and cherished moments for Kizzy and the Lyng family.
